Reverend Lillian Hyde became She previously served as Associate Rector at Trinity Church in Galveston, where she led in many ways: overseeing the programs for Christian Formation, implementing new curricula and a Children’s Chapel; guiding spiritual lives, by introducing the spiritual traditions such as Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina; rejuvenating mission outreach efforts, which included activities such as preparing and serving meals at the Salvation Army once a week; and watching over the entire operation during the rector’s 2006 sabbatical. She serves the Diocese of Texas on the Constitution and Canons Committee and the Restorative Justice Ministry Council. Locally she is a member of the Board of Directors of the Historic Galveston Downtown Partnership. Prior to following her call to ordination, she was a law enforcement based Victim Assistance Coordinator, where she assisting victims of homicide, suicide, domestic violence and sexual assault. She was instrumental in gathering a group of inner city religious leaders to hold a prayer service at the site of the most recent homicide each week. She was the chair of Mississippians for Crime Victims’ Rights, working with the governor’s office to propose an amendment to the state constitution to provide for the rights of crime victims, which was passed by an overwhelming margin in a special referendum.
